It’s a classic I feel like I should have read before and haven’t.
Four sisters: Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy March, are part of a poor but loving family. With their father off to war they have only their mother left to encourage them to be the best version of themselves at all times. As they go through love and loss they truly do learn to become ‘little women’.
I’ll be honest here… many people have told me to read this book at it pops up on so many ‘books to read before you die’ reading lists. Therefore I was expecting big things and honestly I found myself feeling a little disappointed. It was a nice story with good characters and a fine plot. I just kept thinking it’s not as good as I thought it would be. Sorry if you’re one of the people that adores this book, I know there are many of you out there!
“I never wanted to go away, and the hard part now is leaving you all. I’m not afraid, but it seems as if I should be homesick for you even in heaven.”
What is your opinion of this classic book?
What classic literature would you recommend?
Happy reading -ox
I’m glad I’m not the only one, I started it and I think apart from 50 shades it’s the only book that I have ever given up on!😄

I feel the same as you, it felt like it’s a book you’re meant to like but it just didn’t ‘click’ for me ox

I tried to read this book several years ago but just couldn’t get into it, I’d also heard great things and knew it was a classic but i eventually stopped reading about half way through!

I persevered but only because I hate reading a book and leaving it half finished!

I haven’t read it yet, but it is on my Shelf along with Good Wives. I bought it because I think it is a ‘must-read’ book, too XD
Hope I’ll like it! Thanks for your thoughts, at least I know it is not that everyone-will-love-it kind of great…
