Top Ten Tuesday #1

For a little while, I have been reading peoples Top Ten Tuesday posts. I wondered where these came from as they all had the same theme but then I cam across one lovely blogger that linked back to The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Tuesday is an original weekly feature created at The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they post a new Top Ten list that one of the bloggers will answer. Everyone is welcome to join in. I had a little dig around on their blog and even though it is called ‘Top Ten Tuesday’ you don’t have to actually have 10 books, its just a recommendation 🙂

The Broke and The Bookish have their very own rating system that they like people to use so as it’s my first time using this rating system I’m going to leave it here for when I write my reviews!

0 Stars: Did not finish.
1 Star: I didn’t like this book — felt more like homework than reading for pleasure.
2 Stars: This book needed something different to make me like it.
3 Stars: This book was good. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t bad. I would recommend based on certain tastes.
4 Stars: This book was delightful. I’m glad I read it.
5 Stars: I really enjoyed this book. I will probably read it again.
5+ Stars: A new favorite.

This weeks TTT is Top Ten Books On My Fall TBR (To Be Read) List

Realistically, now that I’m back at work there is no way I will be able to read 10 books during Autumn (fall) so I think I might list just 5 as then there is a possibility that I will actually be able to read them all, yay!

Fall is one of my favourite times to read. Its very different to reading in the garden, on a sun lounger, or abroad but there’s something comforting and right when reading in autumn. Snuggled up under a blanket with a hot chocolate and a good book in hand – perfect!

1. A Little Princess – Frances Hodgson Burnett

A children’s classic that I have never read. It was first published in 1905 and has proved a favorite ever since. However, during my childhood, I bypassed this book completely and have only heard of it recently when it was recommended by a friend. I can’t wait to start this book, sooner rather than later.

“When Sara Crewe, the seven-year-old daughter of a rich and loving father, arrives at her new school in London from India, she is nicknamed the Little Princess by her classmates. She has all the comfort and fine things she could wants, but she also reveals a kind and loving heart, a lively mind and a rich imagination. When her father dies, bankrupt, Sara is suddenly reduced to a life of poverty and is forced to live in a cold, damp attic with only her dreams to support her. But will they be enough?”

2. Small Steps – Louis Sachar

Fall = back to school. Whilst at school, I remember reading, analysing and falling in love with ‘holes’ one of this authors best sellers.
