Thetford Forest

I realised that I haven’t posted in a little while – part of that reason was that we had a little stay in Thetford Forest and neither of us got any signal which is the perfect reason to have a digital detox!

We stayed in a little pod – like a really small log cabin and it was perfect for this trip. It had been furnished brilliantly making the best use of the little space and it was very clean and tidy when we arrived. As a side note we loved the green soft furnishings and coffee! If you would like to have a look at Tim’s pod please find him here – we highly recommend it if you’re planning a trip to Norfolk!

We then went for a walk around the forest, which was beautiful! We saw a lot of wildlife and birds, enjoyed building dens, using the free equipment and generally having a giggle for the entirety of the walk.

We then went into Bury Saint Edmund, this took about half an hour in the car and then jumped out of the car and went for a walk around the Abbey Gardens. After this, and not yet having stopped for lunch even though it was nearly 6pm, we went for dinner. We had done a little bit of research beforehand and decided to try the Giggling Squid and boy are we glad we did! The name, decor, service and food were all top! We had a sharing platter to start with, it looked lovely and tasted even better! I particularly enjoyed the fish cake and salt and pepper squid. Then we had a chicken green curry, beef chilli and basil gra pao, jasmine rice and noodles with beansprouts and the Thai green curry was insane! Then we headed back to our lovely pod, put a DVD on in the background and relaxed.

The next day, we got up, had some breakfast and then made our way inland to Cambridge. It’s a lovely, quaint city that houses beautiful architecture and one of the Oxbridge Universities. We do visit here relatively regularly but always make sure we have time to have a stroll by the river.

happy travelling
